Your teen is struggling. You might be hearing things like “I’m not good enough,” “I hate myself,” “I have no friends,” or “I don’t want to be here anymore.” They might be having a hard time getting out of bed, isolating themselves, or pulling away from friends. Maybe their thoughts are persistent and negative, keeping them from doing what they love and feeling good about themselves. Body image and self-esteem plummet in teen years, so you might notice your teen struggling to acknowledge their strengths and embrace who they are. Stress and anxiety might be taking over, and maybe your teen is overwhelmed, crying, and unable to cope. The inability to cope might look like lashing out at friends and family, engaging in self-harm/self-destruction/other risky behaviors, and talking about suicide. They might be feeling hopeless, like nothing can change.
We can help.
We know how hard it is to watch your child struggle. We also know how important it is for your child to receive the best care and support as they learn to grow and heal. As our owner Jessica always says, we will hold the hope for your teens until they can hold it for themselves. At CFE, therapists on our Teen Team are specially trained to work with your teen (and you!) through a combination of individual, family, and/or group sessions.
You can feel confident in the care that your teen is receiving at CFE, and trust that it is a core value of ours to ensure we as clinicians continue to learn and grow so that we can offer the absolute best care for your child and family. Specialty certifications that our Teen Team holds and would be applicable for your teen include: Neurodiversity Specialist, Certified Behavior Specialist, Certified Clinical Child & Adolescent Anxiety Treatment Professional, Certified Grief Counselor, DBT-Certified; and extensive trainings in trauma, OCD, Exposure Response Prevention Therapy (ERP), neurodivergence, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), ADHD/AuDHD, DBT, and family systems..
Our sessions are individually tailored and specialized in a way that promotes a true, authentic, and safe relationship with their therapist. Once they have that safety, your teen will learn skills to help them cope with stressors, replace their negative thoughts with self-compassion, embrace who they truly are, build distress tolerance skills, and feel happier and more confident in navigating their future.
And because nobody exists in a vacuum, our Teen Team therapists make it a priority to support systemic change, or change within the family system, as well. We don’t believe in pulling your teen our of their system, giving them new ways of coping and communicating, and then sending them back to a system that doesn’t know what to expect. Therapy isn’t easy, but we believe the hard work to be worth it. Teens are able to grow and heal, and families are able to improve systems that aren’t working - all of which creates an environment for deep-rooted change and long-term success.
Our highly qualified and experienced Teen Team therapists are ready to help your teen find more connection, embrace greater happiness, reduce self-harm and suicidal thoughts, and build a beautiful life worth living.
