Therapy for Children
As therapists, we might say that our clients come to therapy for things like anxiety, trauma, or struggling with self-esteem. But what you might be hearing and seeing at home probably sounds and looks much different. You might be hearing things like “I don’t feel well,” “Nobody likes me,” or “My belly hurts.” You might be seeing lots of tears before school or an activity, or struggling to follow instructions or behavior that feels like your child isn’t listening. Maybe there are major meltdowns or tantrums, and really big emotions that feel unmanageable.
We can help.
At CFE, our child therapists are specially trained to work with your child (and you!) through a combination of play therapy, art & creative therapies, sand tray therapy, and individual and family sessions. Our sessions are individually tailored to ensure that your child feels safe to explore topics and connected enough with their therapist to be able to do so. Children don’t often have the verbal language to share how they are feeling or what is going on. Our team is trained to understand this non-verbally - through the use of games, art, and play. Our goal is for your child to want to come to sessions, and our team and playrooms are designed to do just that.
Within a few sessions, our families typically report decreased outbursts, increased joy, and easier transitions into activities. Our parents often feel more confident in managing the challenges that come with childhood.
Our therapists are ready to work with you to find the right approach for your child, and sessions will be dedicated to providing support, teaching skills, and helping you and your child feel happier and more peaceful, with better ways to cope.
