FAQ: Fees, Insurance, and our

Low Fee Therapy Program

  • No, CFE is out of network with insurance companies. Being out of network allows us to:
    - protect your privacy: we won't provide any diagnoses unless requested by you
    - have flexibility in your therapy process: we can be creative in sessions, go for walks, and do almost anything that works for the client. We are not bound by what insurance companies dictate or regulate.
    - allow clients to stay in therapy for as long as it feels appropriate: many insurance companies require "proof" every few months that a client is still in need of support. We don't believe in sharing clinical details in order to justify treatment.
    - have time in our week to dedicate to our clients outside of therapy sessions. Our therapists see between 20-25 clients/week, which leaves a ton of time to research activities, coordinate care with other members of a treatment team, and continue to explore any ways we could be better supporting clients in their therapeutic process.

That all being said, we are happy to work with your insurance as an Out of Network provider, if you so choose. Most of our clients who submit to Out of Network benefits get reimbursed a percentage of counseling fees. The details of this are dependent upon your insurance plan. We can issue you a monthly Superbill that you can submit to your insurance. If you need assistance with this, please let us know. Our office manager Tiffanie is happy to verify what benefits you have and walk you through the process.

If you're needing to use insurance, or don't currently have mental health benefits, you may be eligible for our Low Fee Therapy Program - which serves families on a sliding scale.

  • To find out how your mental health benefits work, simply call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask the following questions:

    1. What are my out of network benefits for outpatient mental health services?

    2. How much is my deductible and how much will you reimburse me once the deductible has been met?

    3. What information do you require on the Superbill in order to process as out of network?

    4. Where do I send Superbills?

Alternatively, if you'd like support in navigating this, simple reach out to us! Our office manager Tiffanie would be happy to verify what your benefits are and walk you through that process.

  • We accept cash, credit cards, and checks (payable to Center for Family Empowerment). We also accept HSA cards and FLEX Spending.

  • Intake sessions are a full 60 minutes and a way for us to gather information and begin building our relationship. These sessions range from $200-235.

Individual sessions are 50 minutes and range from $185-220. The rate for your individual therapist is indicated on their bio.

Family sessions are typically 90 minutes and range from $225-270.

If these rates are not feasible, you may be eligible for our Low Fee Therapy Program, where families can receive the same level of excellent care we are known for at a reduced rate.

  • Short answer - yes! Please contact our office for more information.

  • Our Low Fee Therapy Program includes meeting with one of our graduate level intern therapists at a discounted rate. Reach out to Tiffanie to see if you're eligible.

  • We require 24 hours notice for cancelled appointments in order to avoid a cancellation fee, which is the full session cost. It is important to attend regularly scheduled sessions as missed sessions may cause a lapse in our work together which may result in delayed progress.

  • Frequency of sessions is determined by the needs of each individual client. While not required, we always recommend weekly sessions for at least the first 2 months. This allows us ample time to build rapport and determine if it's clinically appropriate to attend less frequently.

Weekly sessions are appropriate for those new to therapy, those who have safety concerns, and those whose goals require consistent weekly support. This allows the therapist to be checking in and consistently working to implement new strategies, and to allow time for the client to attempt implementing those tasks during the week.

Sessions biweekly (or every other week) are appropriate for clients without safety concerns, and without any major areas that are being worked on. These sessions are typically appropriate for clients who feel ok meeting 2x/month for check-ins, and are able to consistently meet their goals and continue their work outside of sessions without weekly support.

Monthly sessions are appropriate for clients who simply would like a space to check in. We consider these "catch up" sessions, where a client updates us on what's going on in their life but is not really looking for much guidance or support.

Our team is highly trained in both determining the clients' needs and also making the most appropriate clinical recommendations. You can trust that your clinician will always advocate for what is in the clients' best interest, and communicate that clearly. Together, you can work with your clinician to find the best path of treatment.
