Maddie Bates, MSW (she/her)

I help teens manage academic and social stress while giving clients a neutral space for sharing. I support children with anxiety and depression to navigate major life transitions.

How I work

My primary goal in the therapeutic space is to ensure that my clients feel safe and are given the opportunity to be honest about their feelings and experiences. I like to combine talk therapy with specific areas of interest of my clients allowing them to feel seen and more at ease. Whether speaking to coping skills or mindfulness techniques, building a strong rapport with clients is vital to how I work. One thing you will often hear me say in session is “Showing up is the most important step.”

My Education & Trainings

I graduated from Temple University with a Master’s degree of Social Work. I utilize CBT, trauma-based cognitive behavioral therapy (TB-CBT), and DBT to help clients feel heard, supported and valued. My top priority is cultivating a safe and comfortable environment for you or your child to share openly about your experience. I aim to provide the tools and strategies that can help in times of heightened or intense emotions. I work with many adolescents experiencing anxiety and depression to develop healthy patterns of thought and behavior as well as creating a toolbox of skills to strengthen emotional regulation. These goals and priorities extend to the groups that I co-facilitate and lead at CFE. Through these groups, I believe we are able to encourage enhanced self-confidence, communication skills, and highlight shared experiences. I value a collaborative therapy setting and aim to provide a comprehensive support system for each client.

The relationship with your therapist is a large part of your success. Here’s more about me!

My favorite place is floating in the pool while my dogs sunbathe on the deck. The titles I feel most honored to be called are aunt, sister, daughter, friend, and confidant. I pride myself on being a reliable ear to lend to the people in my life who need someone to listen. I am an aspiring green thumb (emphasis on "aspiring"). I deeply cherish my big, close group of friends and would not be the person that I am without their unwavering love and support. Pasta is something I could not live without. Cilantro is something I could very easily live without.
