Kristy Cipolla, LPC, LBS (she/her)
I help children and teens gain confidence in managing challlenges and obstacles they may face. I help teens learn how to make good choices for their life today and their future.
How I work
I strive to support children and teens on their journey to manage their emotions and learn tools to self-regulate. I works with clients to create a healthier dynamic for themselves and their family. I assists my clients in practicing mindfulness, developing coping skills, and freeing themselves from built up distressful emotions. Something you may hear me say in session is “What’s new? What’s exciting?”.
My Education & Trainings
I graduated from Kutztown University with my Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology then graduated from West Chester University with my Master’s of Education in Counselor Education (K-12). Certified in DBT and CCATP-CA (certified clinical anxiety treatment profession - children/adolescent).
As a licensed behavior specialist, I have extensive experience in providing behavioral support across all settings (home, school, community). My goal is to provide strategies, interventions, and support to your child and family, and support you as you transfer these skills to your everyday settings.
As a certified clinical child and adolescent treatment professional (CCATP-CA), my goal is to provide my clients and families an effective toolbox of strategies and interventions to interrupt the powerful patterns of anxiety, weaken anxiety’s grip, and help move your child and family forward. My goal for your child is to build resilience, release anxiety’s hold on them, manage anxiety effectively on their own, feel safe and secure, and build their self-esteem and confidence.
As a certified DBT professional, I utilize the skills of this therapeutic approach in both my individual sessions, as well as in CFE groups. DBT is a skills-based approach, that focuses on four areas: mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. My goal is for your child to add skills to their toolbox that they can pull from when they are in distress.
Play is an integral part of my therapeutic practice with children. Children do not yet have the vocabulary or abstract thinking abilities to express themselves as adults would in traditional talk therapy. Play allows your child to express and process their life experiences and stressors in a safe, supportive, and unbiased environment. I use direct and indirect teaching to support your child in learning skills and strategies to address their stressors.
The relationship with your therapist is a large part of your success. Here’s more about me!
I love taking pictures! My pictures (both physical prints and digital) are some of my most prized possessions. When I am not at work, I am spending time at home with my husband and our 12 year old chiweenie Beezy. I love living and working in Jenkintown! You can catch me taking a nice stroll to the office on most days, going slightly out of my way to cross the street where my favorite crossing guard works! I am an avid reader, completing my good read’s challenge of 50 books in 2024 by July! I married a sports-fanatic, so I have since become one as well! More specifically, the Eagles and Phillies. Not a day goes by in our house where we are not discussing football, baseball, or both! I love all things disco tiled, everything bagels, and a good shopping deal. I love the Dollar Tree, and you can catch me there at least once a week!
Working With Me
I offer sessions both virtually and out of the Jenkintown, PA office. I am available for sessions Sundays through Thursdays, during afternoon and evening hours. Individual 50-minute sessions are offered at a rate of $185.
